Class ,Poise ,Posture Confidence,Fashion

Fashion is more than just a statement; it lets us identify a person’s persona. Clothes can either make us feel sexy or cheap, some make us feel insecure or uncomfortable whilst others lift up our spirits of confident and freedom. They can represent who we are, where were from or be a symbol of safety, freedom, or our sexuality. Fashion and art are similar because they use colours, forms, shapes and texture to translate a message or a statement across to viewers. A piece of clothing can be seen as more functional in comparison to a piece of art work.

My style is unique it can be referred to as a mix of different subcultures, an ingredient for a perfect recipe, a hint of different things from Urban, Ladylike to retro, I wear it all . Sometimes my dress sense can be classy and minimal at other times it can be bold .
Retro is a subculture which focuses on the clothing’s from the 1950’s to late 1980’s. The style is about taking aspects from the past and imitating, recreating them in your own unique way. This is quite similar to my way of dressing as I like to take different types of clothing and combine them to create my own trend.

The colours and prints of clothing are very important to me as they enhance the appearance of the garments, from stars, stripes to polka dots, floral and leopard prints I love them all!

The 1980’s was a time where many styles emerged, some of which are still been worn until today. People in the 80’s were influenced by the TV shows they watched as well as the music they listened to.
As an individual what you watch and listen to can play an important role on how you may dress and present yourself. As growing up and until now I have always listened to R n B, hip hop, Rap and soul etc. … and watched shows such as “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” which is an American TV show from the 1990’s which focuses on “Will Smith “(the main character) a troubled teenager from the streets of Philadelphia who is sent to Bel Air. From watching the series I have picked out certain styles that was worn such as: the oversized jumpers and t-shirts, dungarees, high waist -skirt, and mini skirt which are some of the trends that was carried out the 80’s.

You better push it !!

This is a Video of Salt n Pepa they were a very famous back in the 80 's for they  hip hop music . This one of they're popular song called "push it"

From what the girls are wearing we are able to see that big gold chains was very popular in the 1980's as well as leather jackets oversized earrings and tight fitted leggings.

This is a song by an  RnB boy band called Pretty Ricky in this video the boys are seen imitating the 80's Looks as well as they're sound tracks .

Why don't you Love her !

In this video of Beyoncé "why don't you love me " she is seen playing a homemaker character ,the soundtrack seems to be a mix of classic and urban . The style of her clothing she is wearing all seem to have an 80's aspect , from the shorts to the crop top and head tie . This is one of my favourite video as its quite crazy but playful at the same time .

Beyond Retro beyond the streets

Beyond Retro ; The store had loads of clothing to look at from fur jackets, shiny sequence tops and denim jeans to top hats and turbans. There is a playful atmosphere created by how the mannequins have been styled as well as there stores' busy layout.

The Urban OUT -Fitters

I found the Urban Outfitters quite cool and aimed at a youthful target audience. I liked their over sized jumpers and a few of their clothing.

Top shop top shot

The different stores had music which kind of matched the target audience of the people who would shop there. I found that in Top Shop the music was quite loud which relates to the youthful audience that would shop there.

Selfridges&Co

This is a window piece by Sadie Williams. She is a Fashion and Textiles designer; I found the dresses she designs amazing! They have over sized simple shape with designs. I found the dresses modern and futuristic.

Through my journey in Selfridges I encountered that many of the big designers such as Christopher Kane, Mary Katrantzou and Robert Cavalli were working with a similar theme of pretty floras and digital prints.

Are you taking the Liberty !

Liberty has a spacious and plain setting in a quiet atmosphere. There is a mix of classic, contemporary, Luxury and casual style of clothing . From designers such as Christopher Kane to Alexander Mc Queen . They not just Like other stores that just sell clothes , Liberty also sells: plates and even materials and wool .
